In its newest project, Maytain Cabinets has created a kitchen that is as much a statement piece as it is functional. The client wanted a spacious, easily maintained kitchen that also had a strong aesthetic appeal. Conscious of the architectural challenge of curved walls, Norm Ainsworth, Maytain Cabinets’ in-house designer, created the kitchen to optimise every corner of space.

With seven display cupboards, numerous drawers and a generously-sized pantry, this kitchen makes excellent use of its space. The large kitchen island bench is fitted with a deep bowl sink, which is perfectly sized for the chef in the family. Large enough for informal dining, the island also adds a social element to the design.

Contributing to the unique quality of the kitchen is the use of natural surfaces, including farmers timber grain and granite counter tops. The bold, black forest gold granite counters and splashback are balanced nicely by the muted, natural-oak cabinets. The kitchen makes a lasting impression, showcasing a dynamic alternative to the minimalist designs of most modern kitchens.
