Kitchens By Bowen Project 1

In this breathtaking renovation project, Kitchens by Bowen have restored the kitchen to its country-style roots. Over the years, the kitchen underwent several remodels, but the client wanted to use the refurbishment as an opportunity to return to the true heritage of this homestead.

Designed in-house by the company’s award-winning designers, Kitchens by Bowen achieved the desired luxury farmhouse-style by incorporating classic, high-end fixtures with detailed finishes. The cabinetry was finished in white satin two-pack with a detailed route and decorative moulding chosen for all doors, drawers, panels, bulkheads and kickboards.

Benchtops and splashbacks were constructed from 40-millimetre Caesarstone Statuario Maxiumus to achieve an elegant appearance, while brass handles were chosen to cement the motif of countryside luxury. Most importantly, the kitchen island was built as a gathering place where the family could come together to prepare Sunday lunch and serve buffet-style meals.

The project was not without its challenges; the team was faced with a support pillar within the kitchen that could not be relocated in the renovation process as originally planned. Instead, the pillar was cleverly re-cladded to achieve a more cohesive look with the cabinetry and benchtops, transforming this obstacle into a unique feature.

Working within a smaller footprint prompted the team at Kitchens by Bowen to create clever storage options. The client wanted the ease of integrated appliances in the kitchen island, while also maintaining a seamless appearance. To accomplish this, on-bench appliances were kept hidden and a butler’s pantry was established. The butler’s pantry is tucked away in a blind corner, offering a secondary cleaning and prep station that doesn’t detract from the main kitchen.

The breakfast nook is a particularly charming element of the design. This intimate corner was built as a substitute for the dining area that could be used for more informal gatherings.

Kitchens by Bowen was established in 2004 by husband and wife duo Jay and Katrina Bowen.
