JMK Joinery Project 2

For this project, JMK Joinery worked closely with the clients to create an elegant space with personality and practicality. The homeowners wanted a neat and functional kitchen with seamless finishes, and the ability to engage with guests while cooking.

The team expertly achieved the brief by including a large workstation, and a butler’s pantry to help keep the main area free from clutter. Carefully considered to aid the clients when preparing food and entertaining, the pantry includes a 20mm benchtop, a sink, and a Tambortech roller door to conceal appliances when they aren’t in use.

Truly the hero of the hub, the 40mm island bench features a Silestone Charcoal Soapstone top in a suede finish and pencil-round edges; the island is perfect spot for casual gatherings, and beautifully complements the tiled splashback. The Tempest Matt Richmond Tiles in ‘Infinity’ by The Tile Mob are a sophisticated addition.

Showcasing federation details, the cabinetry includes Polytec Lismore EM9 Edge doors in two-pack ‘Milky Spearmint’, and Castella shaker fluted knobs and handles in a pewter finish. The doors in the butler’s pantry are painted in ‘Bluegrass’ by Laminex for visual contrast.

Designed for everyday convenience, the cabinetry layout encourages easy movement within the central space, while the work triangle is realised through the placement of the refrigerator, the sink and the stove. As the homeowners are tall, the benchtops were custom-made to sit at 950mm.

Featuring state-of-the-art appliances, the kitchen includes a Fisher & Paykel built-in 76cm 11 function pyrolytic oven, a Wolf 76cm Combi Steam oven and Wolf induction flush mount cooktop; a four-star air rated Armando Vicario Luz Kitchen mixer and LED downlights were also incorporated.

The spacious kitchen flows effortlessly into the expansive living zone, which follows a similar colour palette and boasts views of the city through sliding glass doors.

Established in 2013, JMK Joinery is owned and operated by Jason and Melissa Whitmore, who share more than six years of industry experience. Predominantly servicing the CBD to the north coast, the company specialises in custom kitchen and bathroom renovations, as well as new builds. All kitchens and bathrooms completed by the expert team are fitted with soft-closing Blum componentry as a standard inclusion.

Building around 30-40 kitchens per year, the team delivers innovative and stylish kitchens with the help of in-house interior designer Melanie Walton.

With a strong focus on customer satisfaction, JMK Joinery works closely with each client to help realise their vision, and create an area suited to their unique lifestyle. The company can also create custom TV units, bookcases, bathroom and laundry fit-outs, freestanding joinery, and built-in wardrobes.
